This project involved the complete renovation of three dilapidated roofs. Careful attention was paid to local building restrictions. A conservation order was in place for this property, controlling the kind of work that could be performed. The picture above shows the roof before any work was undertaken. Scaffolding was put in place to allow access to the roof area. Then all existing Welsh slates were removed and the old brickwork was raked out. The old leadwork was also removed.
New Welsh slates were put in place following this, as well as new leadwork, pointing and coping stones. Guided by the conservation order, the existing timbers supporting the roof were not be replaced outright, but strengthened with secondary beams and the weak timbers were treated.
